The short version
- Your watchlist and settings stay in your browser.
- We use your browser profile's email, or a random install ID if there isn't one, only to link a Premium subscription.
- We don't sell your data and we don't use it for advertising.
- We keep subscription records while the subscription exists. Ask us and we'll delete them.
Who this covers
This policy covers the InvestFellow extension for Chrome and Microsoft Edge, made by Tastola. It also covers the InvestFellow pages on tastola.com that the extension opens, such as the Premium setup page and the uninstall survey.
What stays on your device
The extension saves your watchlist, display settings, price alerts and subscription status in your browser's extension storage. Part of that is in synced storage, so your browser may sync it between devices where you're signed in. We can't read it.
It also keeps a few counters on your device only: when you installed it, how often you opened it, whether you've used your one free AI insight, and whether you answered or dismissed the review request. We use them to decide when to ask for a review and to give each install one free insight. They aren't sent to us.
Your identifier
To link a Premium subscription to your browser, the extension needs an identifier.
- If your browser profile has an email address (a signed-in Google or Microsoft account), the extension uses it.
- If it doesn't, the extension creates a random install ID. It starts with "anon_", then random characters, and holds no personal information.
Subscription checks and Restore
Premium is paid through PayPal. We never see your card or your PayPal login.
When the extension checks your plan, or when you press Restore, it sends your identifier and your PayPal subscription ID (it starts with "I-") to our server. Our server asks PayPal whether the subscription is active and stores the identifier, the subscription ID and the status so it can answer the next check. One subscription can be used on up to 3 devices, so we also keep the list of identifiers that have claimed it.
You can end your subscription at any time in PayPal.
Prices and market data
When you search for a ticker or the bar refreshes, the extension asks our server for market data. Those requests contain ticker symbols and search text. They don't contain your identifier or your email. Our server gets the data from Yahoo Finance.
AI insights
When you hover a ticker and ask for an AI insight, the extension sends that ticker's details (symbol, name, price, change, exchange) to our server. The server passes them to Groq, which writes a short text. The request doesn't include your identifier or your email. Free installs get one insight.
Optional uninstall survey
When you uninstall the extension, your browser may open a short survey page on tastola.com. Answering is optional. If you answer, we receive the reason you picked, the comment you typed (if any), the extension version, the browser (Chrome or Edge), your language, and a random reference code made on that page. The link doesn't carry your identifier or your email, and we don't ask for a name or email. Please keep personal details out of the comment box. Netlify hosts the survey form.
Permissions
- storage saves your watchlist, settings and the counters above.
- identity and identity.email read the email of the profile you're signed in with, only to link a Premium subscription.
- notifications shows price alerts.
- Access to websites lets the bar appear on the pages you visit. The extension doesn't read or collect page content or your browsing history.
Who handles data for us
- PayPal processes payments and subscriptions.
- Google Firebase (Firestore) stores subscription records.
- Vercel hosts our server. Its logs can include request details such as IP address and time. For subscription requests they can also include the identifier and subscription ID.
- Groq generates AI insight text from the ticker details above.
- Yahoo Finance supplies market data. Our server requests it, not your browser.
- Netlify hosts tastola.com and the uninstall survey form.
We share data with these providers only to run the extension. The setup page also loads PayPal's checkout button, which PayPal handles under its own policy.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data. We don't use it for advertising, we don't share it for promotions, and we don't use it for anything unrelated to showing prices, alerts and insights. We may disclose data if the law requires it.
Keeping and deleting data
We keep subscription records for as long as the subscription exists. To have them deleted, email thetastola@gmail.com from the address on your subscription or with your PayPal subscription ID, and we'll delete them. Removing the extension deletes what's stored on your device. Survey answers and server logs are kept for the time we need them to improve the extension and run the service.

Children
InvestFellow isn't meant for anyone under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top.
