If you've searched for the best Chrome stock ticker extension, the honest answer is that it depends on what you want to see and where. This page compares seven that we found by searching the Chrome Web Store and the web on October 28, 2026. It doesn't rank them, and they're listed alphabetically. It says who each one suits. Seven isn't every option, and we chose them by search, so treat this as a starting list.

We make InvestFellow, one of the seven. We kept to facts from each extension's own listing or site (sources at the bottom) and we say where others do better. Nothing here is advice on what to buy or sell. Prices in any of these tools can be delayed, so check the source before you act on a number.

The quick answer

  • Free, with a 5-second refresh and many markets, in a floating panel on any page: Market Ticker.
  • A scrolling bar at the top or bottom of every page. The bar and watchlist are free, with optional paid extras: InvestFellow.
  • A watchlist in Chrome's side panel, or a price on the toolbar icon: BadgeTicker.
  • Look up a ticker you read about in an article: TickerPop or Tickr.
  • Alerts and a portfolio view, with a small free tier: PulseTrack Pro.
  • A simple US and Indian scrolling bar: Realitime US & Indian Stock Prices Toolbar.

The seven, one by one

BadgeTicker

BadgeTicker shows a price or percent change on the extension icon, plus a popup and a persistent side panel. Per its listing, it has sparkline charts, pre-market and after-hours data, four themes plus a console theme, drag-and-drop ordering, and a refresh interval you set, as fast as every 10 seconds. Search is powered by Yahoo Finance. The listing doesn't state pricing or alerts.

Where it wins: you'd rather keep your watchlist in the side panel than over the page, and you want to set the refresh yourself. It isn't a bar on the page.

InvestFellow

InvestFellow shows the stocks, ETFs and indices on your watchlist in a thin bar at the top or bottom of the page, scrolling or static, on all sites or only the ones you pick. Hover a symbol for the bid and ask. The bar and watchlist are free, with prices refreshing every 2 minutes, and no account or sign-up is needed. Premium ($4.99 a month after a 7-day free trial, bought through PayPal) refreshes prices every 4 seconds and adds price alerts, crypto, a second toolbar for market movers (Index Funds, Most Active, Crypto, Top Gainers, Top Losers) and AI insights. It's closed source, and it's for Chrome and Edge. Quotes come from Yahoo Finance through our API, and prices can be delayed.

Where it's weaker: the free plan refreshes slowly compared with Market Ticker, and alerts cost extra. Where it fits: you want a bar that looks like a ticker, with optional paid extras.

Market Ticker

Per its listing, Market Ticker draws a draggable price panel over any web page, with a mini bar mode that pins up to 4 symbols. It says it covers stocks, ETFs, indices, crypto, forex pairs and commodities across US, Indian, European and Asian exchanges, with data from TradingView's market scanner, and that it refreshes every 5 seconds in the tab you're viewing. The listing also says it's completely free with no premium tier, needs no account, and takes up to 15 symbols.

Where it wins: it's free, it refreshes much more often than InvestFellow's free plan, and it covers forex and commodities. The listing says whether a symbol is delayed depends on the exchange. It doesn't list price alerts.

PulseTrack Pro

Per its listing, PulseTrack Pro is a toolbar popup that tracks stocks, crypto, futures and indices from Yahoo Finance data, refreshing every 30 to 60 seconds. The free plan covers 2 tickers on US, NSE and BSE markets. Pro ($2.99 a month or $29.99 a year) adds 15 tickers, more markets, a portfolio mode with profit and loss, and price alerts, and there's a $149.99 lifetime option. It says no data is collected and your watchlist, portfolio and alerts stay on your device.

Where it wins: alerts and portfolio tracking at a lower monthly price than InvestFellow Premium. Where it's weaker for this comparison: it's a popup, not a bar on the page, and the free plan is limited to 2 tickers.

If you only want free alerts, StockPriceAlerts is a Chrome Web Store extension that sends Chrome notifications at a target price for US stocks and ETFs, according to its listing, with no login.

Realitime US & Indian Stock Prices Toolbar

Per its listing, this extension adds a scrolling toolbar to all websites, with top or bottom placement, four color themes, and search to add or remove stocks. It covers NYSE, NASDAQ and NSE stocks, says no account is required, and says it's free with premium customization options. Clicking a stock opens a chart on NASDAQ or Yahoo Finance.

Where it fits: you mostly follow US and Indian stocks and want a plain scrolling bar. The listing doesn't state a refresh rate or alerts.

TickerPop

TickerPop works the other way round. Highlight a ticker (like $NVDA) in an article or thread, and a card shows the price, chart, fundamentals, analyst calls and headlines. Its Chrome Web Store listing says it's free, needs no account or sign-up, and covers stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, indices and crypto on many exchanges via suffixes like .AS, .L and .DE. The listing also mentions optional price alerts and earnings reminders, and says some exchanges are delayed 15 to 20 minutes. Its site calls it a reading tool, not a trading terminal.

Where it wins: research while reading, and more data per ticker than a ticker bar shows. It isn't a price bar you glance at while doing something else.

Tickr

Per its listing, Tickr gives you a popup where you search a ticker to see its price and change, market cap, P/E, 52-week high and three recent news items. It has a watchlist tab, a tab for trending gainers and losers, and a hover popup on tickers it spots on pages like Yahoo Finance, Reddit and news articles. Pricing and alerts aren't stated on the listing.

Where it fits: a lookup tool with news, similar in spirit to TickerPop. It isn't a bar.

How to choose

  1. Do you want prices on the page, or in a panel you open? On the page: InvestFellow, Market Ticker, Realitime. Side panel or icon: BadgeTicker. On demand: PulseTrack Pro, TickerPop, Tickr.
  2. How often should it refresh? Market Ticker says every 5 seconds. BadgeTicker lets you set it, down to 10 seconds. InvestFellow's free plan is every 2 minutes. If you need near-instant quotes, check each tool's data source and delays yourself, because none of them is a trading terminal.
  3. Do you need alerts? InvestFellow (Premium), PulseTrack Pro (Pro plan), TickerPop (optional) or StockPriceAlerts (free). For steps in InvestFellow, see How to get stock price alerts in Chrome.
  4. Which markets? Market Ticker lists the widest range, including forex and commodities. Realitime names US and Indian stocks. PulseTrack Pro's free plan covers US, NSE and BSE.
  5. Cost. Market Ticker and TickerPop say they're free. InvestFellow and PulseTrack Pro have free tiers and paid plans.

FAQ

What is the best free stock ticker extension for Chrome?

It depends on what you want. Market Ticker says it's completely free with no premium tier and refreshes every 5 seconds in the active tab, so it's worth a look if free is your main requirement. InvestFellow's bar and watchlist are free too, but the free plan refreshes every 2 minutes and alerts need Premium.

Which stock ticker extension has price alerts?

PulseTrack Pro (Pro plan), InvestFellow (Premium), TickerPop (optional) and StockPriceAlerts (free) all list them. See our guide on setting up alerts for the steps in InvestFellow.

Do I need an account?

Market Ticker, Realitime and TickerPop say they don't require an account. InvestFellow needs no account or sign-up to use the bar and watchlist, and Premium is bought through PayPal. Check each listing for the current terms.

Does a stock ticker extension work in Edge?

InvestFellow is listed for both Chrome and Edge. For the others, check their listings.

How current are the prices?

Treat them as possibly delayed. Each tool gets quotes from a data source, and delays depend on the exchange and the source. Check before you rely on a price.
